In The Girls + Boys Issue of i-D we explore what it means for boys and girls, like ourselves, growing up today. Splitting the issue down the middle, model of the moment Leona ‘Binx’ Walton heads up the GIRLS, while fashion’s favourite rapper A$AP Rocky heads up the BOYS.

Under new management, a 28 year old black image of flagrant modernity, Olivier Rousteing is bringing a new attitude to fashion.

As the creative director of Balmain, Rousteing is determined not to design clothes but to also bring a new vision to fashion - made clear when he named Rihanna as the new face of Balmain, when the singer starred in the fashion house’s Spring/Summer 2014 collection.

Forgoing the help of a stylist (“If I made a mistake, I wanted it to be my own,” he says), Rousteing pulled together his first collection, for resort 2012, in two short months, and with it set the tone for a more refined—albeit no less sex-fueled—Balmain. “I loved working with Christophe, but we exist in two different worlds,” Rousteing says. “He’s rock ’n’ roll; I’m hip-hop. He’s more street wear; I’m more couture. He’s into jeans; I prefer a tailored suit jacket and pants. We both like a girl to look sexy, but we express it in different ways.”

For fall, he presented a polished hip-hop/safari mash-up that opened with the black model Jourdan Dunn. But it is perhaps the photographs seen here, featuring Rihanna, Naomi Campbell, and Iman, that best express his vision for Balmain. “These women are inspiring to so many different people,” he says. “Bringing them together represents the concept I’m working toward.”

Bad Gal Rihanna: The World’s Wildest Style Icon takes the cover for W Magazine to show her wild side.

Shot by masterful duo Mert & Marcus, the editorial finds Rihanna clad in a variety of exotic hairs, covered in bold hues of ‘tribal’ paint and adorned in precious jewelry. The singer fits perfectly with the editorial’s raw, native vibe, herself being a beauty of historic proportions.

SUPREME FALL/WINTER 2014 LOOKBOOK

It’s here!! Yes Lawd.

Today sees the release of the highly anticipated Fall/Winter 2014 collection from the beast brand that is Supreme in New York, Los Angeles and London while Japan will see an August 23 release. The online store will be open as of August 28.

Staring and modeled by friend of the brand skater Lucien Clark. The latest offerings from Supreme oozes cool and brings the heat. The collection consists of 90’s inspired sportswear pieces as well as a few collaborative pieces with eye catching names and brands.

Taking a strong pattern-centric approach across several pieces, the layered looks ultimately take a rather refined approach. Fellow New York outfit Schott contributes two collaborative pieces to this collection which can be seen in the form of B-3 Shearling Jacket and Perfecto Leather Jacket.

STUSSY 2014 FALL LOOKBOOK

Ahhhh yeaaah! it’s that time of year again where the collections of fall start to grace our eyes.

and what a great way to showcase the sombre looks of the colder months to come, than by starting of with one of my favorite brands.

Introducing the Stussy 2014 Fall lookbook, the clothing brand has released it’s latest offerings for when the temperature takes a slight dip. Having already released a black and white lookbook shot in the streets of Cuba by Francesco Guistri in his signature photojournalistic style; a variety of models are clad in some staple pieces from the brand such as baseball shirts, hoodies and jerseys. The images capture the raw energy of the label’s philosophy and we can get a feel of what to expect in the coming months, especially with the new dollar sign print motifs.

And only a week after, Stussy have released yet another lookbook, this time in all it’s colour filled glory.

The line features an expansive range of tops, legwear and accessories in traditional color palettes but includes remixed tribal prints that pay homage to the brand’s rich history. Highlights include the refined outerwear pieces such as the baseball jacket and the all-over prints shirts.

Back and that jheeeze!

And we’re back!!! if anyone cares at all. Yes it’s been a little while since i last posted. I can only apologise. I know it sounds like such a cliche when people say ‘life just gets in the way’, but it’s soo true. Moving forward be prepared to see some new stuff and more consistency with posts. Also stay tuned for some exciting collaborations. To all my urban cadets out there, keep doing you. Remember its a movement, one that embraces youth, culture and life from all walks. So continue to be ambassadors of yourselves, wave your flag and do it with style and grace. And for anyone who can’t support that, we say ‘Bye Felicia’. 

Adidas by Rick Owens Fall/Winter Tech Runner

Originally showcased during Paris Men’s Fashion Week, we now have a first look at the full collection of high end sneakers Rick Owens has exclusively developed for adidas: the Tech Runner. The sneaker is the perfect combination of Rick Owens’ avant-garde aesthetic and the innovative technology we have come to know and love from adidas. Inspired by stealth bomber aircrafts, the Tech Runner features high quality suede and leathers, combined with an innovative neoprene fit. The midsole is made of a one-piece EVA with the designer’s signature full-length serrated rubber outsole. Furthermore, the silhouette features perforated Three Stripes branding and carries Rick Owens’ signature on the heel strike as well as the adidas Style Globe logo. The Fall/Winter 2014 Tech Runner will be available at select retailers beginning mid July for approximately $790 USD.in collaboration with Adidas.
